The start of fall in Elkhart County is beautiful. You can see the stunning shades of red, orange and yellow start to develop. Combined this with golden-pink sunsets, farmers harvesting their fields, big red barns, and winding lanes and you've got an Instagram-worthy backdrop for your wedding!
This is exactly the vibe that Karalyn and Dan wanted for the wedding ceremony and reception. This Fort Wayne-based couple found Rock Run Creek Barn online and fell in love. Why wouldn't they? It has all of those make-our-Midwestern-hearts-swell amenities, it's an 1850’s restored barn that is heated and features inside restrooms ... oh, and it's handicap accessible! Such a big WIN for these fall days where the sun in shining but isn't providing a lot of warmth!
Not to get ahead of ourselves, but another big win for this venue was the Splash uplighting package that Karalyn and Dan chose. Holy cow! If you want to level up your reception venue, you should certainly consider this enhancement. Not only is it an affordable option (that can be added up to a week before the event!) it makes such a powerful impact. Karalyn chose our candlelight yellow color for the uplighting which is a perfect compliment to a rustic barn. If you think uplights have to be bold colors like blue, purple, or hot pink, think again! Our modern wireless LED fixtures can create subtle pastels and warm yellows too, which have become our most popular choices in uplighting this year.
Ok, back to the beginning of Karalyn and Dan's big day. This happy couple chose to get married on-site at the quaint covered bridge over the burbling Rock Run Creek. The crisp fall air was abundant that day (we'll be honest, our Southern California friends and family may have thought it was downright chilly) but so was the sunshine, and the fall scenery was the real hero. Rock Run Creek cuts across the back half of the venue’s large property, with the covered bridge located at the north side of the property and is surrounded by corn and bean fields. It has a beautiful gravel lane leading to it so guests can really soak in the country-like setting.
After the ceremony was over and Karalyn and Dan were officially married, Ft. Wayne photographer Kristen Mittlestedt and her assistant got some stunningly beautiful images that took advantage of the full grounds while guests enjoyed cocktails and appetizers back in the barn. A delicious buffet meal followed with a desert course consisting of the traditional wedding cake plus assorted cupcakes and cannoli.
Karalyn & Dan wanted their wedding reception to be a party with lots of sounds, dancing and lights and boy oh boy did they choose the right entertainment package for that! By selecting the Sticky Boots Platinum entertainment package, the barn was filled with a chest-pounding sound system including digital turntables and 15" subwoofers. It's not too much for this type of venue by any means, but it certainly lets guests know you're ready, willing and able to party.
And ready, willing and able they were! This group was filled with dancers which makes our jobs a tad bit easier. They kept the dance floor full the entire evening to everything from Bruno Mars to boy bands. We even had a full crowd of people doing (or at least attempting) the “Git Up Challenge”. Because our newlyweds knew they'd be having a long day however, they purposefully planned an early end to the evening just after 9pm. This worked perfectly because the guests had fun, but didn't fizzle out, and beautiful fall evening wrapped up on the perfect note.

Best Wedding DJ Ever!!
We've been to a lot of weddings with DJs that would have people on and off the dance floor all night. Blake aka "DJ Stickyboots" kept everyone dancing all night long! He played every song we asked him to, made announcements when needed, was extremely organized, and was very professional. Everyone kept telling us how great of a job he did. We couldn't have asked for a better DJ for our big day!
