We love a good legacy. So when Renee contacted us in early 2019 to see if Sticky Boots was available for her upcoming 2020 wedding, we knew right away it was going to be a great party! You see Sticky was the DJ for Renee sister, Katie, three years earlier in Mishawaka, and then DJ Iceberg was behind the decks for Renee’s uncle Don’s wedding just last Fall in Goshen. This is such a fun family, and we are so blessed to have the opportunity to work with families like theirs through multiple children’s weddings.
One of Navarre Hospitality’s premiere properties, The Armory, is an amazing large-capacity venue with hardwood floors, open beamed ceilings, brick walls, and tons of natural light. It also has the distinction of being connected to Iron Hand Wine Bar which offers a unique location for guests to relax prior to the start of a reception. Renee knew right away this would be the perfect setting for her celebration, and so did we, as it’s one of our favorite newer venues in the South Bend area.
After a beautiful ceremony at St. Matthew’s in South Bend and a perfect summer photo shoot on the campus of Notre Dame with Sarah Sage, Renee and Jon made their way to The Armory to mingle with guests during cocktails prior to a dramatic grand entrance emceed by Sticky Boots where they appeared to from high above the room on the picturesque Romeo & Juliet balcony. The entire room had the warm glow of candlelight from our Dazzle uplighting package, and their entrance was perfect!
Of course we are still in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic, so masks were the order of the night, but luckily the large space the Armory affords made this reality more realistic with plenty of room for social distancing. After salads and speeches, Navarre provided a delicious buffet with chicken, fish, and prime rib options, all served in a safe way with masks required of all in the buffet line to keep in line with local COVID regulations. Once the cake was cut, the room was primed for Sticky Boots to do what he does best: packing the dance floor for the rest of the night.
The uplighting changed colors to the beat of the music bringing the room to life, and Renee and Jon took center stage on the dance floor until 10:30pm when the party ended in a giant circle of love and support around the newlyweds. As you can see from the video below, it was such a fun evening of family and friends, and we were honored to be once again be a part of this family’s most cherished moments!

Blake was the DJ for our wedding reception and he did a fantastic job! He was very thorough and great to work with in the planning process; he knew exactly what to ask us so our reception flowed very nicely and the music was great! We highly recommend him!
