Elcona Country Club is at the foot of the Bristol Hills and has a beautiful club house ballroom that overlooks the 18th green and 10th tee. The weather on this Saturday was exactly what you’d hope for with a wedding in early October - sunny skies, slight breeze and a temperature that wasn't too hot nor too cold.. And DANG, did this couple get the perfect combination of both!
Megan and Tony chose the Platinum entertainment package for their wedding reception based on both a recommendation from friends, and having grown up listening to Sticky Boots on the radio. Couples like that normally have a good idea of what the Sticky Boots experience is like and know how to have a good time, and as soon as we met Megan and Tony, we knew for certain this was going to be a super-fun wedding!
Ironically, even though this couple both grew up in the Michiana area and just bought a house locally in Osceola, we still did all our planning virtually via Facetime as these two have very busy and unpredictable job schedules in the medical field. Facetime is such a convenient option for planning however, so whether you are across the country, or just across the county, we’ll feel like friends by the time we’re done with our planning sessions. As it turns out, we actually had a lot of mutual friends with Megan and Tony, so it was even more fun to get to know this couple. Plus, we found out some of our friends were going to be both in the bridal party and wedding guests, which added to our excitement!
For this event, the Grand Ballroom at Elcona was decorated beautifully with fall flowers and purple linens on the tables, and Megan decided to add our Splash uplighting package in lilac purple with wonderfully accented the room with vivid color. Uplighting works great in nearly any room, and this color choice really popped as guests entered the space!
After a cocktail hour where folks could enjoy the golf course views from inside or outside on the veranda, the party really got started with a lively grand entrance which flowed directly into one of the most epic first dances we've ever seen (and we've been doing weddings for over 30 years!). Megan and Tony had a completely choreographed dance to “A Million Dreams” from The Greatest Showman soundtrack. There were twists, dips, lifts, and spins through the entire four and a half minutes of the song to the crowd’s delight! There were definitely some physically demanding, next-level Dirty Dancing type moves, and from here on out, we’ll be calling Tony “Patrick Swayze”, lol!
If an incredible first dance wasn't enough, Tony took it to the next level with the garter removal. We'll be honest, we don't have weddings that do garter removals frequently, but this was a tradition that most of Tony's traditional Chinese family had never seen before. DANG, he slayed it. Seriously, check out Sticky Boot's Instagram highlight - we caught a bit of the (mostly) family-friendly part. We also threw in the newlywed “Shoe Game” for some entertainment during the cake cutting, which was another first for many in Tony’s family, and they loved it!
The best thing about this wedding reception was the fact that the guests were ready to DANCE! This all-age group packed the dance floor for almost three and a half hours! We love when friends and family get together and have a great time together on the dance floor. Tony and his brother Johnny are both Notre Dame grads, and this Saturday happened to be a Notre Dame home football game, so to be that ready to focus on the party (and not the game) may have required the luck of the Irish. The Irish won that day, and so did Tony and Megan in every way possible. #ThatDangWedding2019 was certainly one for the record books!

Amazing DJ!!
Blake aka "DJ Stickyboots" was the best DJ we could've hired. He was very helpful throughout the wedding planning process and was receptive to our ideas. During the wedding, he was a fantastic MC and was able to direct the flow of music perfectly. At no time did it feel like there was a lull and it felt like the dance floor was always going! You can tell he is a professional DJ and every one of our guests told us how great he was! Thanks Blake!!
