If you’ve never been to a wedding at the exclusive Lost Dunes Golf Club near the shores of Lake Michigan in Bridgman Michigan, don’t feel badly. This exquisite venue, which boasts many celebrity members such as Michael Jordan, only hosts one to two wedding receptions per year, and even fewer outside on the course itself, so our own DJ Sticky Boots was honored to be a part of this golf course wedding for Chicago sweethearts Lizzie & Jack in September.

It was a warm, but picture-perfect weather day for an outdoor wedding, and Lizzie chose a spot just outside the magnificent log-cabin style clubhouse at Lost Dunes for her wedding ceremony, followed by cocktails on the veranda of the clubhouse, and dinner and dancing in a tent on the course itself. The tent was not a typical white circus-type tent with poles, but rather a crystal clear greenhouse-style tent that was absolutely stunning and gave you the feel of being outside while still offering the protection of a tent. Even with no rain in sight, the stars shone into the tent once the sun set, which was breathtaking. The clear tent also allowed us to create some cool effects with uplighting later in the evening, which set the stage for the most unique part of this reception – the “Stanky Hour”… read on.

Lizzie likes to DANCE, so much so, that she was prepared to change into a completely different all white outfit after dinner just to give her the full ability to move freely on the dancefloor and look good doing it. Jack is no slouch on the floor either, and when the bride and groom set a tone like that, you know the 200 guests were going to follow!

After the formalities of the dinner, toasting, cake cutting and such, Sticky Boots opened the floor with a more traditional mix of hits, warming people up for the eventual crazy energy that would become the Stanky Hour, an hour of no-holds barred, all out party. At 10:30 PM, the lights went down, the volume went up, and the timid were pushed from the floor as Sticky went full-on nightclub style with high energy hip-hop and club music, while Lizzie, Jack, all their friends from the University of Miami OH, and even grandma broke it down on the floor for the next 90 minutes (people didn’t want to stop after an hour, and neither did we!) until midnight. There were no bouquet tosses, no cheesy line dances, no hokey dollar dances, just great music and 100% party. It was quite a scene and one that we absolutely LOVED! Guests felt the same and left for their hotels with smiles on their faces and incredible memories to last a lifetime. Hands-down, our most fun and unique wedding of 2017!

I could not have asked for a better DJ for our wedding. Blake's attention to detail was unlike anything I've seen. He cares deeply about his clients, music and ensuring everything has an amazing time. He somehow reads the crowd AND caters to what the couple wants at the same time. No idea how he does this! I am still getting compliments from my guests about the quality Blake brought to our reception. Also, he accommodated to our "stanky hour", which was the best hour of the reception. I cannot say enough great things about Blake! I highly recommend!
