We work with many Notre Dame clients each year, mostly for weddings, but when we got the call from planner extraordinaire Krissy Campbell to help with a graduation party at Seven On 9 overlooking the historic ND Stadium on graduation weekend, to say we were intrigued is an understatement.
Peter’s family lives in Southern California, and Krissy had worked with them previously for other University of Notre Dame events. Peter was a senior and wanted to have a blow-out party with a couple of his roommates who were also graduating. He also wanted to make his event stand out from the countless other celebrations and get-togethers taking place in South Bend that weekend.
The venue would be the fabulous new Seven On 9 on the ninth floor of Corbett Family Hall on the east side of the Stadium. Seven On 9 features a long indoor entertaining space, stadium style indoor and outdoor luxury seating overlooking the field, and an incredible outdoor terrace/patio on the side of the building that overlooks not only the field, but all of campus as well. In fact, the view of the Hesburgh Library and the Word of Life mural, (aka “Touchdown Jesus”) and the Golden Dome of the Main Building are incredible.
Seven On 9 doesn’t typically have DJs in the space, since it’s too small for most dance-oriented events, but we still created an adequate space for Sticky Boots to set up our Platinum package along with another speaker for the terrace area. The weather earlier that day had been stormy, which caused ND to move graduation ceremonies from the football field inside, but by the time of the party’s start at 5:30pm, the skies were clearing. In fact, a rainbow even appeared just as guests were arriving as if by Divine intervention. If that doesn’t prove the “luck of the Irish”, we don’t know what does!
Guests enjoyed a cocktail hour on the terrace to the sounds of a live bagpiper in traditional Irish dress, which was a terrific touch Krissy helped pull together to put a true Notre Dame stamp on first impressions. Later the 75 guests were treated to a delicious plated meal by Lasalle Grill followed by more drinks and dancing as Sticky Boots laid down tracks selected by Peter and his friends, including some obscure fun songs that were big hits in the dorm along with the more typical standards heard every weekend at the Linebacker Lounge near campus.
What a great way to start the summer! Good luck to you Peter!
