Memorial Day weekend is the traditional start of summer, but for Krystal and Parker, it was also the start of their new life together as husband and wife. Krystal is a Spanish teacher at an area high school where we DJ for all of their school dances, so she was already familiar with DJ Sticky Boots’ style and presentation. Obviously there’s a big difference between a wedding and a school dance, but Krystal wanted to maintain that same mixing style and energy at her reception while still having expert emcee and event coordination skills for her guests of all ages. Enter the DJ Sticky Boots Platinum wedding package, which was the perfect fit for not only Krystal, but the venue as well.
Potawatomi Inn is a gorgeous, sprawling venue on the shores of beautiful Lake James near Angola Indiana. It also happens to sit inside one of the most popular parks in the state, Pokagon State Park, and for a warm day in May on Memorial Day weekend, you can imagine how much excitement was in the air for Krystal and her guests!
Unfortunately that weekend there was also a little bit of rain in the air, and despite everyone’s best efforts to have the ceremony take place on the Inn’s large outdoor veranda overlooking the lake, the steady raindrops caused the family to move things inside to the ballroom. Sticky Boots excels in flexibility, and when the rain call was made, he quickly transitioned the ceremony sound system down the hall. The staff was a huge help as well, getting all 260 guests relocated and the ceremony was still able to start on-time, right on the dance floor in front of the head table.
Krystal and Parker had also chosen to go with our Splash uplighting package in candlelight yellow, which looked terrific behind rustic tree branch décor as a backdrop to the ceremony. Uplighting is not something that could have happened outside, proving there’s always a silver lining.
After the ceremony, guests enjoyed the sounds of old-school classic country music during cocktails and dinner, with current pop, hip-hop, and country filling the dance floor later in the evening to everyone’s delight. At the end of the night it was still a perfect event for a perfect couple, rain or no rain. Great start to Summer ’18, and a great start to the rest of Krystal and Parker’s lives!
