Every wedding we are fortunate enough to be a part of is a fulfilling experience, and every couple we work with end up feeling like family. That’s by design, and being a smaller, boutique entertainment company we only choose to work with clients who we know will have a great fit with us. That being said though, there’s always ONE wedding every summer that takes the prize for being the biggest all-out PARTY, and this summer that award hands down goes to Ashley and Kevin’s celebration at the University of Notre Dame!
Recent ND grads Ashley and Kevin met at Notre Dame during ND’s Vision Program, and most of their guests were in from out of state, with Kevin being from southern California and Ashley from Texas. On this late June day, the couple was married in the spectacular Basilica of the Sacred Heart in the middle of the Notre Dame campus at 3:00pm, with guests then taking tours of the storied ND campus before walking over to the gorgeous Morris Inn for cocktails in the pre-function space. We utilized a remote satellite speaker for cocktails vibes during this time to set an upbeat mood for the party to come.
After enjoying drinks and tasty appetizers, guests moved into the beautiful Smith Family Ballroom for 3 course plated dinner, with DJ Sticky Boots on the mic as Master of Ceremonies for the evening. Sticky facilitated a high energy Grand Entrance, followed by a touching speeches and toasts from the bridal party and Ashley’s father.
With the formalities taken care of, Sticky Boots opened the dancefloor for the eager crowd, and that’s when the real party began! Guest ranging from recent grads up to grandparents packed the dancefloor all night with an expert mix of music from current pop hits to 90’s boy bands and other Notre Dame bar sing-a-long favorites and rocked non-stop for a solid three hours of dancing.
One particularly memorable highlight was an impromptu serenade of Ashley by Kevin and his ND buddies to Celine Dion’s Titanic theme song, “My Heart Will Go On”, complete with choreography! We’re also pretty sure we saw photographer Katie Whitcomb stay till the end of the night, after her “official” duties were done, just to dance and hang out with everyone. The night closed out with over 100 people out of the dancefloor for a final song, surrounding the newlyweds in a circle of love as they embarked on their new lives together.
It’s always such a pleasure to see two different families, of different ethnic backgrounds and different parts of the country coming together to truly celebrate as one with smiles, laughter and joy all around. That’s exactly how it should be, and to be able to create those moments is the best part of our job. As a side note, it’s also always fulfilling as a DJ to have family members from Los Angeles mention you’re the best DJ they’ve ever heard, anywhere, haha. We’re equally as grateful to be blessed with such amazing families to share a small slice of life with each weekend!
