REBECCA & SCOTT’S NOTRE DAME WEDDING AT THE PALAIS ROYALE | DJ

Eleven cities later…..Notre Dame grads Rebecca and Scott currently reside in Pittsburgh, PA where he’s and engineer and she’s in grad school, which makes the 11th city they’ve lived since starting their relationship (and definitely not their last).  It also makes for a pretty epic wedding hashtag:  #11citieslater.

For their June wedding, the couple decided to come back to South Bend where it all started, with a ceremony at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart on the Notre Dame campus, and a cocktail reception, dinner, and dancing at the exquisite Palais Royale Ballroom downtown.   They chose our Platinum package with DJ Sticky Boots for emceeing and entertainment duties.

Rebecca’s father, Steve, is a super creative guy and a fantastic public speaker, so he knew he wanted to add some special touches to his daughter’s celebration.   We worked closely with Steve and the couple to design unique elements into the reception that highlighted Steve’s natural ability to command a microphone and engage the guests in a meaningful and heartfelt way.

Steve even took the extra step of rewriting the lyrics to the father-daughter dance plus another song as dedications to his daughter.  After crafting the lyrics, he sang and recorded the custom versions of the songs for Sticky Boots to play at the key milestone moments of the reception.   The result was two very unique and memorable moments as he danced with Rebecca, bringing both laughter and tears to nearly all who witnessed it.

Besides an incredible meal of filet and chicken breast from the Navarre Catering and Events, the evening also included amazing speeches from the maid of honor and best man, Scott’s brother Paul, who recounted fun stories from childhood that illustrated what a committed and driven man Rebecca married.

And finally, we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the incredible Notre Dame Main Building wedding cake with a topper featuring the famous “Golden Dome”.   This cake was created by C’est La Vie cakes in South Bend, and was a real showstopper for all the guests as they walked by!

It was a wonderful evening of celebration for the 125 guests and proved that a Friday wedding does not need to be small, quiet, or boring, especially when you have friends and family traveling in from all over the country.   If you’re considering a Friday reception, we say go for it!   Vendor availability (including our own here at The Music Place) is often much better, and the results can be stunning – a fact proven beautifully by Scott and Rebecca’s celebration.
