Purple. Cassie and Scott’s big day was all about purple, and with the help of our Dazzle uplighting package and Platinum entertainment package, we made their South Bend wedding reception venue, St. Hedwig, glow purple like never before. We utilized both a range of wall-placed lighting fixtures behind the head table on the existing drapery at St. Hedwig along with ceiling wash fixtures to bathe the brilliant white fabric drapery on the ceiling with lavender light. With all the harsh fluorescent lights of the hall turned off, the look was simply stunning and exactly the vision the couple had for how to transform a traditional bland banquet hall with drop ceilings into a beautiful oasis of warm color.
Cassie and Scott also utilized our Ceremony sound system for their St. Joseph county ceremony which was held on the beautiful outdoor patio space at the Gillespie Conference Center at the Hilton Garden Inn near the Notre Dame campus in South Bend, IN. It was a warm sunny day in June for the ceremony, and with wireless mics and digital playback of their special ceremony music selections, the sound was crystal clear to all 225 guests in attendance.
After the ceremony, guests departed the Gillespie Center to St. Hedwig across town for a fantastic authentic Polish buffet dinner, served family-style of course. Sticky Boots, their South Bend, IN wedding deejay produced a high-energy custom grand entrance for the large bridal party which included unique custom edited songs for each bridesmaid and groomsman pair. This feature allows each couple to express their own individual flair as they enter the room, and of course allows for a separate song choice for the bride and groom.
With the goal of entertaining their guests and keeping their event unique, Cassie and Scott also chose to incorporate the “Newlywed Game” (aka the “Shoe Game”) into the early part of their South Bend wedding reception entertainment. This involves the wedding emcee seating them on the dancefloor back to back and asking a series of questions about each other’s habits or traits. The couple indicates answers by holding up the shoe of the person who best answers the question and the agreement (or sometimes disagreement ) between the bride and groom are often hilarious to the guests watching from their tables. The feature is fun to add for couples who want to break up the evening a bit and keep guests engaged.
Later in the evening after a touching set of toasts, cake cutting, special dances, and of course the Newlywed Game, Indiana wedding DJ Sticky Boots, expertly mixed a nightclub-style playlist of new top 40, hip-hop, and dance music along with all of Cassie and Scott’s favorite club songs from the 90’s and 2000’s. With the purple uplighting and powerful dancefloor lighting of the Platinum package, Sticky was able to recreate a nightclub feel in the banquet hall, which was perfect for this group of friends and family.
