While attending an open house hosted by Bread & Chocolate Catering at the Old Bag Factory in Goshen, IN, Katie’s mom Elaine met us as one of the venue’s preferred wedding vendors and reserved our services for her daughter’s wedding over a year in advance. We love working with couples with plenty of planning time as it really gives a chance to get to know them and keeps the planning process easy to manage and stress free. A laidback experience was especially good for Katie, who was swamped with a tough final semester and full load of classes in her senior year at Indiana State University, not to mention all the responsibilities that come with being an active member in her sorority. We met with Katie and her parents multiple times before the big day, which really helped make the process easier.
Katie chose our Gold wedding package with DJ Iceberg as her Goshen area DJ, and Iceberg brought in two separate sound systems to the rustic industrial space at the Old Bag Factory. He started the evening in the Gallery space with Katie and Stefan’s ceremony, providing a microphone and expert music playback of their ceremony music, then set the mood for the evening with cocktails and dinner music in the Ballroom following the vows.
As guests transitioned between spaces, they encountered breathtaking decorations in pink and teal, with the large, tiered head table beautifully accented with our uplighting fixtures in a stunning Tiffany Blue color to match the décor. With cocktails completed, the Elkhart county wedding MC directed the grand entrance and cake cutting, and provided a wireless microphone for the toasts and blessing.
Another treat before dancing was Katie and Stefan playing the “Shoe Game” or “Newlywed Game” as it’s sometimes called. Guests were roaring with laughter as Iceberg asked a series of questions designed to find out how well the Katie knows Stefan and vice versa, all while sitting back to back on the dance floor and holding up a shoe to indicate their answers. The shoe game was followed by the special dances and an Anniversary Dance for all the married couples with tosses, open dancing and even a polka or two rounding things out.
It was still a lively crowd and full dance floor at the end of the evening with a huge group of Katie and Stefan’s sorority and fraternity sisters and brothers rocking out to classic piano bar type songs when the lights finally came up and it was time to say farewell. Now that’s how you celebrate!
