Northern Indiana is beautiful in the late summer. The trees are still green, the grass is still rich in color, but the temperatures have relaxed a little bit, and people are in the mood for some slightly-chilly evenings, perfect for romantic stroll along wooded paths.
Located along the Historical Lincoln Highway, you'll find the quaint town of Bourbon. For many years, this small town has been home to Back Forty Sporting Clays, a 40-acres haven for shotgun shooting enthusiasts, but their Banquet Hall is a haven for couples who want a private wooded setting for their wedding ceremony and reception. In a nutshell, the Back Forty is pure late-summer bliss and it's exactly the setting that Skylar and Ryan wanted for their special day.
Skylar and Ryan wanted to have a small, intimate wedding ceremony and they did just that about a week before their wedding reception at Back Forty. We love when couples choose unconventional routes to start their lives together. This choice also allowed Skylar and Ryan to be on-site and greet their guests as they arrived for the reception. Here at The Music Place we feel each reception should have its own unique flow and timeline that fits the couple; so when Skylar and Ryan chose us and the Gold Entertainment Package, they got just this!
After a bit of mingling, and some excellent food catered by Back Forty Catering, Skylar and Ryan were officially introduced as husband and wife, and the party really got started.
We mentioned that this couple chose some unconventional routes for their wedding reception, and the music was no exception. They chose a relatively unknown song by Kodaline for their First Dance which matched their style perfectly. For the Grand Entrance it was none other than Black Sabbath’s “Crazy Train”, because as Skylar said, “We have a crazy group of friends” Skylar wasn’t kidding, as this was one of the most fun wedding party and close friends we’ve seen in a while with tons of dancing to hip-hop throwbacks, champagne celebrating, and even a little gymnastics from some of the bridesmaids!
The evening ended with a dance floor filled with friends, family and a happy newlywed couple ... exactly how a picture-perfect reception should end.

The best DJ ever!
We knew from the get go that we wanted DJ Stickyboots! We were so excited that he was able to DJ my daughter's wedding. What a great MC as well. He's professional, current, and knows how to get a party started and keep it going. A+++ in our books! We will definitely be a repeat customer!
